I have a lot of damaged teeth. What options might be best for me?
We will not be able to make a complete recommendation until the condition of your teeth has been evaluated. Some forms of damage can be treated with root canal therapy, so we may even be able to preserve an aching, broken, or infected tooth. Depending on the number of teeth that can be saved, bridges or partials (partial dentures) may be appropriate. The bridge is anchored in place by neighboring teeth. In turn, your suitability for this option may depend on where the remaining teeth are located. Partials, too, depend on remaining teeth, as the partial generally connects to the remaining teeth. The prosthetic teeth and artificial gums clasp onto the natural teeth nearest to the gap.
What if I don’t have any healthy teeth left?
It is our great pleasure to help you! Few things are as rewarding to us as rebuilding patients’ smiles, knowing what a positive impact we can have on their lives. Generally, you may be a candidate for dentures that are designed to conform to the contours and tissues of the mouth. The well-fitting upper and/or lower denture(s) should fit naturally, snugly yet comfortably, in your mouth. They do not slide around. Due to their precision fit, the natural suction in the mouth stabilizes the prosthetic teeth and gums that make up the denture. Proper stability supports patient satisfaction. The denture won’t slip around, so discomfort and sores are avoided, and you can enjoy a variety of foods effortlessly. You’ll also smile proudly, speak confidently and clearly, and laugh without holding back, knowing that embarrassing slip-ups are not in your future.
Will my denture teeth look real?
All prosthetic tissues designed and placed at The Art of Dentistry look like real, healthy teeth and gums. This is due to our extensive planning and use of accurate, precision diagnostic technologies, as well as our selection of the highest-quality dental materials. Modern dentures are well-designed and are nothing like the old artificial-looking dentures that your grandparents may have worn that tended to slip around. We can match the color of porcelain, acrylic, and other dental ceramics to blend in perfectly with your natural teeth and gums.
