A guide to the dentistry you deserve to protect, preserve, restore, and beautify your smile

Led by Dr. Moosa Dalwai, our team in Lilburn, Georgia, practices “general” yet distinctive dentistry—dental care the way that it should be. The Art of Dentistry blends timeless qualities of service with the most timely technologies and treatments to support the oral and overall health of family members of all ages. Together, our complete dental services protect your mouth, prevent damage, restore damaged teeth, replace missing teeth, and beautify broken or cosmetically “imperfect” smiles.

How do you protect and prevent dental problems?

Many oral conditions can be prevented with routine visits. During these check-ups, our doctor will gently and effectively clean your teeth and gum line (even stubborn plaque build-up). Dr. Dalwai also examines your teeth and supportive gums and other structures to identify problems early. Dental disease is progressive. By intervening early into the disease process, we can prevent damage that may threaten the teeth. Dr. Dalwai also enlists the help of advanced diagnostics like low-radiation digital X-rays to identify subtle, early stage, or hidden damage that might otherwise be missed or go untreated.

No preventative program would be complete without professional guidance and services, ranging from recommendations for tooth-friendly foods and brushing practices, to the application of fluoride supplements or dental sealants.

What if you find damage?

We will want to treat any damage as soon as possible. Without treatment, a small cavity can turn into a large area of decay that eventually threatens the entire tooth. In many cases, we may be able to preserve the damaged tooth. Early enamel erosion may be resolved with modifications to hygiene or the application of fluoride to remineralize weak teeth. Smaller cavities can be treated with tooth-colored composite fillings. Teeth with bigger cavities or larger areas of decay may be good candidates for dental inlays, onlays, or full dental crowns. Sometimes, infected or deeply decayed teeth may be preserved with root canal therapy followed by a crown.

What if my tooth can’t be saved?

We are pleased to provide many surgical procedures that are not offered at other dentists’ offices. These include surgical extractions, or the removal of damaged or impacted teeth. While impacted wisdom teeth are not necessary for function, it is essential to replace any other teeth that are needed to support proper chewing and speech. Without prompt replacement of essential teeth, shifting may occur. The neighboring teeth tend to drift toward gaps in the smile. Also, tooth loss is associated with bone loss—a devastating process that can affect the appearance of your face (not just your smile) and can make existing functional problems far worse.

How can you make my smile look better?

For starters, preventative services like teeth cleanings go a long way to keep your smile looking great. Our hygienists remove surface stains along with bacteria, plaque, and stubborn tartar. In addition to maintaining a healthy mouth, a beautiful smile can be supported with a range of cosmetic dentistry services. For existing or deep stains and discoloration, we are happy to discuss options for effectively and safely whitening teeth without causing sensitivity. Other procedures can make everything from gaps and spacing issues to chips and poorly shaped teeth disappear.

At The Art of Dentistry, we appreciate that there is no smile quite like yours, so no two treatment plans are the same. Likewise, no two preventative programs look alike. Everything is tailored to your specific needs, because this is the personalized, high-quality care that you deserve.
